US Team Miami Shines in Baoding Challenger 2025 – Reaches Semifinals with Grit and Glory

The 2025 season of the FIBA 3x3 World Tour began with a bang, and Team Miami proved once again why they’re a team to watch. Taking part in the Baoding Shi Challenger in China, this dynamic USA squad made a powerful return to the pro circuit — finishing with a well-earned semifinal spot and turning heads across the basketball world.

A Fresh Yet Familiar Squad

Team Miami brought together a solid mix of experienced and new talent. Returning players Mitch Hahn and Trey Bardsley brought their chemistry from 2024, while former Team Princeton star Henry Caruso and debutant Andrew Kelly added fresh energy. Two more talented players — Olympian Dylan Travis and James Parrott — are set to rotate into the squad throughout the year.

Dominance from the Start

Miami launched their crusade with a confident palm over France’s Ermont Senef, scoring 21 – 16 in their opening match. Caruso and Kelly were clinical under the hem, while Hahn's outside firing suggested at what was to come.

Their second match of the day was a thriller against Spain’s Barcelona. With just 90 seconds left and trailing 15–20, Miami faced elimination. But a clutch comeback led by Caruso’s free throws and back-to-back deep shots from Hahn flipped the script. The Americans stormed back to steal a dramatic 21–20 win, topping their group in Pool A.

Quarterfinal Showdown – Statement Made

In the quarterfinal, Miami outclassed Germany’s Skyliners with a dominant 22–11 performance. Hahn led the way with 11 points, including four 2-pointers. Bardsley and Kelly added key contributions, helping build a comfortable lead early on and never looking back.

Tough Luck in the Semis

Their hot streak, however, cooled off in the semifinals against Japan’s Shinagawa. Struggling from beyond the arc with only 1-of-9 made from 2-point range, Miami couldn’t quite keep up despite solid efforts from Hahn and Caruso. Japan’s Hayate Suzuki sealed the deal with a dagger from distance, ending the match at 21–16.

By the Numbers

  • Even without reaching the final, Team Miami’s performance was outstanding:
  • 80 total points across 4 games — the highest average in the tournament (20.0 per game).
  • Mitch Hahn emerged as the top scorer of the Challenger with 30 points.

What’s Next?

This is just the beginning for Team Miami. The squad is scheduled to appear in several major FIBA 3x3 stops in 2025, including:

  • Utsunomiya Opener (April 26–27)
  • Amsterdam Masters (May 17–18)
  • Hong Kong Masters (July 19–20)
  • Kaohsiung Challenger (October 4–5)

With this explosive start, Team Miami is clearly hungry for more — and the road to glory has just begun.
